Photo Highlight: October Light Gallery

Photo Highlight: October Light Gallery. On one of the final days of October I went in search of light and color. Soon it will be winter and the light will be weak and feeble, if not hidden behind the clouds of Danish winter, and the trees will be bare. But on this day the light was good and the colors were strong. When the sun is low in late autumn timing is everything. Wait a minute or two too long and the light has shifted and the moment is gone. But if everything goes well there are incredible colors to be found. Have a look for yourself!

This tree caught my eyes from far away with its beautiful golden colors. When I got close I thought about what it was that caught my eye and realized that i needed a dark background to show the bright colors. That meant the sky and that meant pointing the camera up. But I couldn't get under the tree in a way that kept the golden colors. They became reddish when the sun was not directly behind. I solved this by using a 21 mm equivalent lens that enabled me to get the best from the red and golden colors at the same time! The golden colors caught my eyes at first but I love the transition from gold to red against the blue. Like the first photo of a backlit ak leaf, the low light made everything glow. But this time I managed to get flare in my lens trough trial and error to get that lazy afternoon mood and slightly sad last-light mood.Read more about me, my photography and my blog at my webpage and buy prints and downloads at my galleries.
